Honor Band 

The Honor Band is the non-varsity band at VLI. These classes are made up of 7th and 8th grade students. Membership is determined by audition, academic eligibility history, and overall performance history. The Honor Band performs at most concerts and compete in UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest. Additional performances may include one or more festivals and our annual solo contest. Members of the Honor Band are expected to maintain passing grades, attend all sectionals, and attend all performances. In addition, they are are strongly encouraged to participate in private lessons. Mr. Howell teaches the Honor Band. ​

Wind Ensemble 

The Wind Ensemble is a varsity band comprised of the most musically and technically advanced 7th and 8th grade students. Membership is determined by audition, academic eligibility history, and overall performance history. The Wind Ensemble performs at least seven concerts and competes in UIL Concert and Sight-reading Contest and additional performances. Members in the Wind Ensemble are expected to participate in the TMEA All-Region tryouts and solo contest. In addition, they are expected to maintain passing grades, attend all sectionals, and are strongly encouraged to participate in private lessons. Mr. Parsons is the lead teacher for the Wind Ensemble. ​
