Meet the Directors
Jonathan Morales | Director of Bands [email protected]
This will be Jonathan Morales's second year with the Victory Lakes Intermediate School Band. A Texas native, Mr. Morales has spent most of his life between Houston and the DFW metroplex. As a student, Mr. Morales attended the University of Houston where he earned both a B.S. in Kinesiology and Exercise Science, and a B.M. in Music Education. During his time at the University of Houston, Mr. Morales was a marching technician for the Spirit of Houston. He considers himself very lucky to have the mentors he does from college, including John Benzer, David Bertman, Corey Meals, and the late Eddie Green. Mr. Morales has performed with both the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps and the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps, out of Rosemont IL and San Antonio TX, respectively. Mr. Morales has been active in teaching high school marching band since 2014, spending 6 years with the Cypress Falls Golden Eagle Marching Band, and one year with the Clear Brook Marching Band. Prior to Victory Lakes, Mr. Morales was the Associate Director at Clear Creek High School, where his responsibilities included team teaching the Marching Band and Wind Symphony, and leading the Symphonic and Concert Bands. When not at school Mr. Morales enjoys playing board games, running, hiking, and hanging out with his dog, Spaghetti. Sarah Piercy | Associate Director [email protected]
Ms. Piercy is excited to continue her time serving as the Assistant Band Director at Victory Lakes Intermediate this coming 2023-2024 school year! She is an alumnus of the University of Houston's Moore's School of Music, where she graduated Cum Laude with a B.M. in Music Education, as well as a B.M. in Clarinet Performance. During her time at the University of Houston Ms. Piercy had the opportunity to perform with The Spirit of Houston, The University of Houston Wind Ensemble, The Moores Opera Orchestra, and The Moores Symphony Orchestra. She also taught a small studio of clarinets in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD at Arnold Middle School and Cypress Falls High School. Ms. Piercy is originally from Keller, Texas, which is located in the DFW area, and where she is an alumni of Keller Central High School. Outside of teaching band she has a feisty cat named Nutmeg, who enjoys causing mischief. She enjoys spending time with her friends and family, reading, crocheting, and playing Pokémon. Ms. Piercy is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, and the Texas Bandmasters Association. |
Eddie Solomon| Director of Percussion | [email protected]
Mr. Solomon is the Percussion Director at Clear Springs High School, Victory Lakes, and Creekside Intermediate. Mr. Solomon attended the University of Houston where he earned his Bachelor's of Music in Music Education. He also attended Roosevelt University in Chicago, IL where he earned his Master's in Orchestral Percussion Performance. Prior to this position, Mr. Solomon has worked as an Assistant Percussion Instructor for the Clear Lakes feeder programs. He also served as the percussion director at Angleton High School and Junior High. Mr. Solomon has a wide array of performing experience that he incorporates into his teaching. He has performed with the Troopers, Academy, and Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps. Additionally, he has performed at PASIC with the Moore's School of Music Percussion Ensemble. Mr. Solomon has also played with the West Texas, Texarkana, and Arkansas Symphonies. In his spare time, Mr. Solomon enjoys fishing, kayaking, and spending time with his wife who he coincidentally met while teaching at Angleton. |
